The Mein Leibling
doll is completely artist made from all fine polished Seeley's French Bisque
porcelain. The head is a reproduction of a most-favored German doll and
was produced from a vintage mold from Byron Molds. This one stands a full
18" tall. The body is Byron's ball joint replica of the antique doll
body. The arms and hands are pose able and so are the upper and lower
legs.
The head. It
was poured in French Bisque, cleaned and fired to a high temperature to
achieve the smooth, satiny bisque. It was then sanded and cleaned again
to prepare the porcelain for the application of the finest china paint and the
continued firings. The painting is very delicate with multi-stroked eye
brow and lashes. The beautiful blue eyes are all glass,
one-of-a-kind. They have been handcrafted, hand blown using the finest
European glass available. The depth and color are reminiscent of the old
dolls. The modern dynel wig with long ringlets and curls that frame her
face.
The Costume:
The costume is also completely hand sewn. (by hand and
machine). It is fashioned from fine China silk and the dropped-waist
bodice is self-lined and is also yoked with lace at the neckline and lower
yoke. The dress is full length with an overlay of 4" scalloped lace
at the bottom. There are four rows of machine shirring to gather the
skirt to the proper width for dolls of this vintage. The
sleeves are very full and gathered to a band at the wrist which closes with a
snap. The band is edged with matching lace and trimmed with blue flowers
to match the ones embellishing the yoke. The under clothing is cotton
and poly fabric with matching lace. the pantalettes have elastic at the
legs. The ivory stockings are knee high with a diamond design. Her
little shoes are also ivory with buckles and bows. The bonnet is well made -
self lined silk. It is fully closed in the back crown and
band. The brim is also wired and shirred and decorated with the same
blue flowers and ribbons. It can be tied beneath the chin or worn as
shown in the pictures in order to show off the jewelry made of glass beads and
pearls. The jewelry was made especially for this doll. Her
earrings match.
The doll comes with
it's own stand and wrist tag.
