This little Bru is the collectible number 8. The doll is all porcelain and the body is a 5 piece body that is pose able. The legs are "straight" one piece which joins at the hip. The arms are also slightly curved but straight and are joined at the shoulder. The doll measures 17" tall.
The porcelain parts have been crafted utilizing a fine French Bisque porcelain which fires to a smooth, satiny surface. In all, it takes at least 5 firings (sometimes more) to produce the finished head and body.
The head head is made from a mold of the antique doll. It has the full cheeks and the well defined nose and mouth. It has been delicately painted with the typical bru eyebrows and many stroked eyelashes of deep rich china paint. The eyes are cut to accept the wonderful brown paper weight eyes that are hand blown glass with a drop of clear glass to enhance the pupil and deepen the color.
The costume is a very pale yellow in color with white applied lace at the neck and bodice front. The sleeves are elbow length but can be pulled on down to the wrist line if desired. They are finished with a length of matching lace. The skirt is gathered and is a double layer of the same fabric and lace. The undergarments are finished with ruffles and ribbons at the lower edges. (slip and pantalettes.) To complete the costume are her shoes, stockings, and a straw hat that is embellished with lace and ribbons.
