Bru Jne
This doll is an excellent interpretation of the French Bru dolls of the past. She is 14 1/2" tall. Her head is marked BruJne. She has been reproduced from a doll which was made from around the late 1800's.
This doll is full bodied porcelain with joints at the neck, shoulders, hips. The body is comprised of6 pieces including the head which is inscribed Bru jne 13 and also wms, '90. It has been reproduced from an antique. This doll is very typical of the modern doll crafting art. The face is exquisitely painted, delicately blushed with the antique colors that have been handed down from doll artists of the past. Her eyelashes are many strokes of deep dark black, and her eyebrows are brown multi stroked with light shading. The china paint is then fired onto the porcelain, creating a lovely bru doll that will be a wonderful addition to any doll collection. The eyes are hand blown from the finest European glass available today. The eyes are "paperweight" eyes which means that drop of clear melted glass has been applied over the iris which enhances the color, depth, and movement of the eyes. Her costume is full length lace layers over blue satin skirt. The sleeves are wrist length and lace embellished. Beneath it all is a hooped under skirt with pantaloons. She wears white necklace and earring set strung with white beads and pearls. Her hat is a wired lace picture hat, trimmed with blue ribbon and finished with an open crown. She wears a white net stole to complete her costume. Her wig is short, curly acrylic which can be combed and styled. It has not been glued to her head so is easily removed for styling or cleaning. Her shoes and stockings are white, matching her pantaloons.
